KMJ 238 - Camping Nes - Bergambacht (South Holland)
Het Groene Hart KMJ 238 - Camping Nes - Bergambacht (South Holland)
start in the morning. Refueled with the release of Bredene for only 66 € instead of the usual 80 in France ... Stop for lunch at Kalken north of Gent then we continue our journey to Antwerp where we find the usual concentration of this heavy on six highways that can cross the great Belgian port. Breda and Rotterdam and its futuristic buildings that are reminiscent of the shapes of the hulls of large commercial ships. We Krimpen veins to the east and about fifteen miles away, we arrive at the campsite Nes Lekdijk West 105 along the river Lek. The edge and hollow because the land here are very low and is bordered by wide Lek "dijk (dike) on each side. A ballet incessant reminder of the barges near the port of Rotterdam. Bike landed, we take the bike path and start to discover the "Groene Hart" - the green heart of true Holland - The lek is lined with farmhouses with thatched roofs and bright colors. No curtains on the windows to the Dutch fashion. A mill on the other side draws our gaze. We decide to move downstream in search of a possible bridge. We will find the ferry "Esmeralda" which we ask € 1.30 to get to the other side with our bikes. We can almost see the Streefkerk mill dating from 1893 and is currently undergoing its second phase of restoration. We stroll on the road back to De Nes particularly enjoying the quiet rural heart of the green coupled with the serenity provided by the imposing presence of Lek whose width gives it an air of peaceful river.
