Initially, we decided to visit the medieval heart of the city. Surrounded by the Singel canal Old Town turns back to the sea, we pass near the Dam, the former agricultural market. There is an impressive crowd at the Amsterdam Historisch Museum which houses a complete retrospective of Rembrandt's work until the end of the season. We cross the 'Damrak' (former port) and travel the "Bloemenmarkt" - the flower market - which offers impressive bulbs varied sizes. We approach the red light district and its windows offering his daughters bare. The atmosphere is somewhat murky, a little later a museum of cannabis cotoie the sex shops, the place seems, it is relatively quiet at least until nightfall ... Lunch at a brewery just across the No. 4 of Jordenbreestraat, Rembrandt House, then we head to Waterloo full and wander in a market that offers such parts for bicycles and shoes to those who go on foot! about them, ours are severely tested along the "Herrengracht," the channel of Lords where the houses all have air leaning tower of Pisa way. Impressive. The Emperor's Canal and the Canal du prince, we continue our discovery of the houses of the seventeenth, the golden age of the city through the East India Company. In the distance, poles attract our attention, we decided to go to the eastern port. The replica of an eighteenth frigate is accosted by the "Nemo" science museum that seems out of the water, its bow green evoking that of a steamer. From its terrace, we discover a magnificent view over the city and harbor. Includes a maritime museum right next to the Nemo, the Dutch ships from the early twentieth century, with their typical lateral fins. A return to the city to admire the china of Delft on the side of Gassan Diamonds and we regagons the centraal station after a journey of a good ten miles. Oh, by the way, now you no longer feel "to the heart cod chips ... and unfortunately" the sailors not blow their noses more in the stars. "
